A room divider has two jobs at once: it separates zones and it stays part of both. An open shelf does this better than a wall, because light and sightlines pass through while books and objects give each side its own address. KUUDU is open construction by default, without a rear panel, so both sides of the shelf read as front sides.

The configuration shown is three sections (225 cm) at about 105 cm height in 35 cm full depth: hip-high, long enough to mark a zone between sofa and desk without closing the room. In shift mode the levels of neighbouring sections can be staggered, which gives the divider a quieter, less wall-like rhythm.

Freestanding KUUDU shelves stand on oak foot rosettes that spread the load across the floor. Height is composed from foot, levels, and gap heights, so a divider can stay at sideboard height or grow toward the ceiling later using the same parts. The 3D configurator shows dimensions and price while you build. Made in Germany.

FAQ

Is the back of the shelf open?

Yes. KUUDU is an open system without a rear panel, so light passes through and both sides can be styled and used. Individual cells can be built as closed boxes where you want visual rest.

Which height works as a room divider?

Most dividers sit between roughly 100 and 150 cm: high enough to mark zones, low enough to keep the room connected. Height is composed from foot height, levels, and gap heights, so the configurator shows the exact figure while you build.

Can both sides be used for storage?

Yes. The boards run the full depth of the shelf and are reachable from both sides, so each side of the divider can carry its own row of books or objects.
