Pickawood Alternative: KUUDU Compared

  • 146 × 219 × 35 cm
  • FSC oak
  • Made in Germany
  • Configurable in 3D
Building

Pickawood answers a precise brief: furniture cut to the millimetre, planned in a configurator, built from solid wood or veneered board in the finish you choose. When a niche measures 87.5 centimetres, made-to-measure is the right answer. The question worth asking first is whether the shelf should fit this wall – or every wall it will ever meet.

KUUDU takes the second path. The configuration shown is about 146 cm wide at 219 cm height with staggered levels: not cut to a niche, but built on a 75 cm grid whose parts remain interchangeable. When the shelf moves to the next apartment, nothing was made for a wall that no longer exists.

Oak veneer (FSC European) on powder-coated aluminium, oiled surface, 20 kg per board. Levels and gap heights are chosen per section, and the same parts rebuild into new configurations. The 3D configurator shows price and dimensions live; made in Germany.

FAQ

Made-to-measure or grid – how do I decide?

If the shelf must close a gap to the centimetre – under a stair, into a niche – made-to-measure serves that brief. If the shelf should move, grow and rebuild over the years, a fixed grid keeps every part reusable.

What widths does KUUDU build?

Sections of 75 cm, combined up to 450 cm: 75, 150, 225, 300, 375 or 450 cm. Height is composed freely from foot, levels and gap heights, so vertical fit is nearly stepless.

Is KUUDU solid wood?

No – and deliberately so. The boards are oak veneer (FSC European) on powder-coated aluminium: the visible surface is real oiled oak, while the construction stays light and stable and every part remains replaceable.
